Dr. Blake Horio

Dr. Blake Horio specializes in surgical and medical treatments for diseases affecting the retina, macula, and vitreous. His practice is limited to surgical and medical diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous with special interest in vitreous and retinal surgery. Dr. Horio is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Horio received a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.  He completed his residency at Yale University’s Department of Ophthalmology in New Haven, Connecticut.  While at Yale University, Dr. Horio was also awarded a research fellowship from the National Institute of Health (NIH) to conduct extensive laboratory research on eye diseases.  He completed his vitreo-retinal fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. A noted author of numerous medical research articles, Dr. Horio has also participated in several national clinical studies related to the latest drug and/or surgical treatments for diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous. Dr. Horio has been in private practice since 1995 and treats patients throughout the Chicago area.
